MotiSpark

Personalized video nudges for ongoing motivation

“When I am in the exam room with a patient, I have a few moments to offer a few words that I hope will inspire and instruct.  MotiSpark is brilliant — it offers that encouragement in the moment when it is most needed, when the patient is managing his or her illness in real life, far from the doctor’s office.”

MotiSpark’s SMS based platform tripled healthcare provider revenues by engaging patients with personalized motivation and empathetic messages from their caregivers to make it easier to RPM & CCM care plans and show up to their appointments.

The platform combines best practices from advertising, behavioral science and interaction design to inspire people to use the draw of their phones to identify goals and spark healthier actions.

Role I founded the company after my prototypes I created to help myself ended up helping others which led to 2 co-founders, investors and a pilot partner, grant, expansion to 7 states. I led product, strategic partnerships & fundraising.

Objectives:

To develop a digital health tool aimed at aiding individuals in identifying personally relevant healthy behaviors and motivating them to take action over a period of no less than three months. This will be achieved through personalized visual nudges, simultaneously enabling clinicians to reduce the time spent on non-billable support for their patients between appointments.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Behavioral Identification Improvement: Achieve a twofold increase in the capability of patients to pinpoint personally relevant healthy behaviors compared to conventional healthcare methods.

Engagement Retention: Sustain engagement of both patients and providers over a period of 3 months, with each video on the platform being viewed at least once.

Cultural Relevance & Inclusivity: Garner positive feedback regarding cultural relevance and inclusivity from a diverse demographic spectrum.

Non-Billable Support Reduction: Decrease the necessity for non-billable support from clinicians between billable events for patients enrolled in the program.

Appointment Adherence: Attain a decline in patient no-show rates for scheduled appointments.

User Interaction: Achieve substantial user interaction with the platform’s functionalities, reflecting on the usability and engagement factors.

Process

– Established collaborative engagements with researchers and providers from reputable institutions like UCLA, Clemson University, Children’s Hospital of LA, University of Texas, and Merck Pharmaceuticals, alongside specialized provider groups in CCM and RPM.

Design & Development:
– Developed a user-centric platform with a strong emphasis on ease of use and customization, ensuring an engaging user experience.
– Introduced innovative features like visual nudges and culturally insightful videos to foster personalized user engagement.

Testing & Iteration:
